In order to perform the mid-stroke action, rather than making the blank soft and easy to swing, the blank is made strong and the guide setting and solid are designed to allow the tip to swing.
When using the rod's natural power for action, the width of the lure it can carry is inevitably narrow, so it feels good with light lures but loses out with heavy lures.
For that reason, by making the blank stronger and using guide settings and solid action, it is possible to perform mid-range action in a wide range that is not affected by the lure size or weight.
